  2. Spain 4-0 Italy: Dismal Azzurris no match for the kings of the world

July 2, 2012 by Saikat Chatterjee

Spain became the first team in the history of football to win three consecutive international tournaments after an inexplicable display of footballing genius in the finals of the Euro 2012 on Sunday. La Roja created history on a night when records tumbled one after another, as the defending champions thumped a wayward Italian side 4-0 to retain their crown as the Euro 2012 champions in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.

  3. Spain vs Italy: The Battle Royale

“A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon.”

    Italy Spain Euro 2012

The mighty La Roja will be taking on the rejuvenated Azzurris at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv tonight for that ‘colored ribbon’ and will be hoping to defend their European crown and leave behind lasting legacies. Although it’s not exactly the final everyone expected to see at the start of the tournament, it’s fair to say that both the teams have deservedly earned their place in the finals of the showpiece event.

  4. Lost That (Loew)ing Feeling

The German media has been very critical of Joachim Loew since the defeat to Italy and rightfully so. German newspaper Bild hit the nail on the head by saying, “Mentality is often more important than quality.” The intensity and focus of the Italian display was something that blew Loew’s Germany out of the tournament. Italy showed exactly the characteristics he failed to instil in his own side.

  5. EURO 2012 Semi-final: Germany 1-2 Italy

Italy pulled off an upset last night by beating what looked to be, on paper at least, a far superior Germany side 2-1 to claim a place in Sunday night’s EURO 2012 final against Spain.

What was even more surprising about Italy’s win was just how easy it was. Germany, who had looked an extremely strong side up to that point, all of a sudden looked uncertain and full of weaknesses, and once they had fallen behind, never looked like coming back into the game. Italy were simply far too good for the Germans.

  6. Euro 2012: Germany – Italy Preview

June 28, 2012 by Sean Charles

This game will kick-off tonight at 19:45 GMT.

    Team News and Formation:

There was an element of surprise in Lowe’s selection choice for the quarter-final match against Greece by benching Podolski, Muller and Gomez. For this reason it is difficult to fully know what he will do tonight but I expect Podolski to come back in to the starting line-up as Schurlle did not impress against the Greeks. Reus on the other hand had a very strong performance so there is a chance he could retain his place ahead of Muller on the right. Klose still didn’t look fully match fit so it is likely Gomez will come back and regain his place in the team.
