The 4th of July at 4:19 PM was when Robin van Persie updated the fans.
Hoards of betrayed Gooners hurling twitter abuse, crying or making hilarious YouTube videos soon followed. Along with some interesting takes on the whole situation. Here are the best 5 of those takes.
#5 Leaving Arsene’s orphanage now that he’s all grown up
Robin was just a wee little kid when kind old Arsene decided to get him into the Arsenal orphanage. Arsene nurtured him from day 1; he would care for him, he would feed him and he would always take him to the doctors when poor Robin was ill. Arsene’s doubters often questioned whether he was making the right decision in being so faithful to the eternally bed-ridden Dutchman, but the orphanage manager stubbornly stuck with him.

After winning the Primeira Liga in the previous game week, all of the Porto players had their hair coloured white and blue for the match on Saturday. And very late on in the game, Fernando was sent off for a second yellow. Seen as the stadium was in a party mood, he laughed and danced off the pitch. Here is the video of the incident:

Here are some very funny and interesting anecdotes about football teams around the world. A big thanks to /r/soccer over at Reddit for making this article happen.
The UEFA cup final of 2000 was held between Arsenal and Galatasaray. The latter won the trophy on penalties. The whole team was celebrating in the dressing room when they heard a knock on the door. They opened it and saw Arsene Wenger with a bottle of champagne in each hand, he then said ”I brought these thinking we would win but since you won, you deserve these.”

Flamengo’s striker Deivid de Souza missed an open shot on goal in a game against Vasco. Leonardo Moura played him a killer pass and he should have buried it.
