Are Chelsea the team to beat?

It almost sounds silly to throw this idea out there as a realistic suggestion, but as it turns out, it could well be the case – we think Chelsea are the team to beat in the Premier League.

The Blues have been on a fantastic run under Maurizio Sarri so far this season and it’s ensured that they’re still unbeaten after 12 Premier League games which, in itself, is a phenomenal achievement. If Chelsea, City and Liverpool all avoid defeat in their next game then that will mean we’ve gone more than a third of the season with three teams still being unbeaten, and that’s quite remarkable.

Alas, some would argue that this is an unusual time to suggest such a thing when they’re coming off the back of a 0-0 draw against Everton, but we saw something similar in them to what we saw when Manchester City were held by Wolverhampton Wanderers. We saw a team who were so good that the opposition stepped their game up to a level we hadn’t previously seen, and when you piece that all together, we think that makes Chelsea the real team to watch in this title race.

The pressure associated with being the best is firmly on the shoulders of City and Pep Guardiola right now, because nobody seems to be talking about Chelsea as serious contenders. Sure, you could argue that a place in the top four is still their only major aim, but it feels like they’ve gone beyond that. We could be way off the pace here but from their dynamic midfield all the way through to their renewed attacking options, it’s an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan and we mean that sincerely.

Can Chelsea legitimately challenge for the Premier League title throughout the remainder of the PL season?
