Brighton & West Ham kick off the weekend

The Premier League returns this weekend with a sea of top games for people to choose from, but before we reach the actual weekend, we have Friday Night Football to enjoy as Brighton & Hove Albion battle West Ham United in a game that will allow both teams to try and make a statement to the rest of the league.

The Seagulls have cooled off in a big way since their strong start to the campaign, with many fans now believing that they’re amongst the leading contenders for the drop. West Ham, on the other hand, have been slowly improving with each and every passing week as they start to gain a foothold in the division under Pellegrini.

Playing on a Friday night can be a tense thing to deal with for a lot of teams given the added pressure of playing in front of the cameras, and on top of that, both clubs will know that they’ll have to wait throughout the entirety of the weekend to see how the clubs around them fare.

On the face of it, it certainly feels like that’s going to be more of an issue for Brighton than the Hammers, with Chris Hughton’s men being stuck in a rut that they’ll be desperate to get out of. That’s easier said than done, though, especially in the top flight where the quality of the opposition is much higher than the Championship.

Still, the home fans at the Amex know how to create an intimidating atmosphere for any side who visits them, which is going to be a big thing for West Ham to deal with. It feels like this one has a draw written all over it given the unpredictable nature of both clubs, but we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.

Who will come out on top – Brighton or West Ham?
