Another weekend of Premier League action is in the books, and it’s fair to say that the majority of eyes were fixed firmly on yesterday’s fixtures with three magnificent derby day games for the fans to enjoy. We kicked things off with Chelsea vs Fulham, but unfortunately, that one didn’t quite possess the kind of drama that many would’ve hoped for.
Goals from Pedro and Loftus-Cheek, bookmarked at either end of the game, allowed Chelsea to get back to winning ways after their disappointing loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last week. There was no fairytale return to Stamford Bridge for Claudio Ranieri, although there are still things that can be worked on for the Cottagers as they aim to secure Premier League survival.
Then we had Arsenal vs Tottenham, and we aren’t exaggerating when we say that this was one of the best Premier League games we’ve seen in a long time. It had just about everything you could hope for from a game of this magnitude, and it served to remind the world of just how good North London is in the European football landscape. Arsenal came out on top but Spurs had their moments, too, although it’ll be interesting to see who flourishes and who falters in the league from this point on.
We finished the day off with Liverpool vs Everton, and boy oh boy did we have some things to discuss in the immediate aftermath of this one. The Toffees held their own against their bitter rivals throughout the course of the game, and it took a freak mistake from Jordan Pickford to allow Divock Origi to score the last minute winner that ensured the Reds’ title hopes were still alive and well.
What was your favourite moment from all three derby day games?
