Is Super6 a Scam?

If you live in the UK you will no doubt have heard of skybet. They are one of the U.K.’s largest online sports betting operators and have been running in the UK for almost 15 years. Alongside their sports betting operation they run a weekly super six competition in which they give away £250,000 to players up and down the country. This may sound good but what are they catches behind it?

Although the competition is free to enter you do need to be over the age of 18 and live in the UK. Of course there are strings attached and skybet don’t away £250,000 out of the kindness of their hearts. In order to create an account you need to do so by opening an account with sky bet. This is of course where skybet make their money by enticing super6 players to make bets with skybet. There is no need to deposit or wager anything in order to play super6 but you will be inundated with offers and even calls from skybet themselves trying to get you to play for real money.

You may think to yourself this is fair enough after all you are getting a shot at quarter of million pounds every week or so. But really what are the chances of winning? In order to win super6 you need to correctly predict the score of 6 football matches which kick off at 3 PM each Saturday. This is a pretty tall order. Just getting one correct score would be beating the odds but to get all six is almost impossible as you can see by looking at the recent winners, they can often go months without a single winner claiming the jackpot. If we say for example that you have a one in 10 chance of getting the correct score (which is being pretty generous) then the odds of hitting the jackpot are one in 1 million. But going by the fact that few people ever win this jackpot the odds are probably far greater than that. And with a prize pool of £250,000 you are literally selling your personal data to sports betting giants for pennies.

Furthermore skybet has been met with controversy after ceasing operations with their affiliates which means they have essentially stolen commissions worth millions of pounds retroactively. You may see adverts on various sports websites for online bookmakers, these are deals in which the sports websites earn a commission for all players referred to skybet. Skybet recently terminated all their agreements and have stolen commissions potentially worth millions of pounds from small website owners to larger corporations. You have to ask yourself if this is what they will do to their own marketing partners what will they do to their customers in order to turn a profit.

Of course it is up to you whether or not you play super6. If you already have an account with sky bet then you may think to yourself why not? entering only takes a few seconds each week if you have the app on your phone. But if you don’t have an account with sky bet I urge you to think twice before signing up just for this promotion.
