According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have completed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Roma for a fee in the region of £67million, subject to the 25-year-old passing in the next few days after reportedly travelling to England on a private jet.
If as expected Alisson passes his medical, then the highly-rated stopper will sign a five-year-deal with the Merseysiders.
Enjoyed a meteoric rise
Alisson has enjoyed a fast rise to prominence. The 25-year-old only became Roma number one last season, having joined the Giallorossi from Internacional in his homeland back in 2016.
The rise from unknown to being regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world has been a meteoric rise. In the space of a year, he has become Roma and Brazil’s number one, and it now looks like he will become Liverpool’s number one too.
In-demand this summer
Alisson’s impressive debut campaign with Roma led to a host of clubs showing an interest in his services. Chelsea and Real Madrid were reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian this summer.
Chelsea look set to lost first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, who have been in the market for a top ‘keeper for a while. Chelsea will now need to look elsewhere in search of a replacement for Courtois.
Liverpool have majorly strengthened this summer
Liverpool has been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer market this summer. The Reds have already signed Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri to strengthen their already strong squad.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will now be regarded as major challengers to Premier League champions Manchester City for the title in the new season. The Merseysiders have certainly strengthened in weak areas, and Liverpool fans are once again dreaming of becoming English champions.
