It’s almost cliché to talk about just how dominant Manchester City have been this season, but given that this is the Premier League, we’re keeping an open mind on things – because you just never know what could be waiting around the next corner. Of course, in terms of fixtures we know exactly what is next up for the reigning Champions of England, as they prepare to travel south to London where they will take on West Ham United.
This game will be one of the 3pm kick-offs that marks the return of domestic football in England, after an international break that was actually full of quite a few pleasant surprises. Alas, that pales in comparison to the Prem in terms of importance, as many fans gear up for what should be the next chapter in this phenomenal story for City and Pep Guardiola.
Given the time off we’re interested to see how City will look in this game, because we feel as if it could go one of two ways. Either they’ll have had even more time to devise a game plan even with their big stars heading off for international duty and will destroy the Hammers as a result, or, they’ll get complacent – which could lead to disaster.
That sounds overdramatic but it’s not like we haven’t seen teams start off well before, only to slip away as the campaign goes on. There doesn’t appear to be much danger of that happening but you have to think about the pressure on their shoulders here, given that many fans are already talking about them as potential treble winners. They’re only human, and we’ve seen that against Wolves and Liverpool this season, so make sure you keep your eyes on this one.
Will Manchester City run through West Ham this weekend?
