As we gear up for another weekend of Premier League action, all eyes will be on the early kickoff as reigning champions Manchester City look to keep their 100% start to the season going when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. This game has jokingly been dubbed the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ courtesy of both clubs being incredibly wealthy, but beyond that, this encounter will serve as an interesting test to see where City are at in terms of reaching that next level.
It’s obvious to see that they’re the best team in this division by a country mile, with Liverpool being the only other side who could probably claim otherwise. As a result you’d expect them to walk through everyone they come up against, but with Wolves, they’re an unusual entity. The Midlands club have one point from their first two games which would suggest that they’ll end up being relegation candidates this season, but given the quality they possess in their squad, there’s a chance that they could do something special once everything falls into place.
The atmosphere on Saturday is going to be important to keep an eye on, too, because the Wolves faithful certainly played a big role in helping their side claim a point against Everton on the opening day of the season. Obviously, City are a completely different animal, but once a team is unsettled against Wolves, it can go badly for them very quickly.
The general expectation is that City will come away with the three points, but just how convincing will they be in victory? There will undoubtedly be tougher tests to come over the course of the next few months, but you could argue that no other team will be able to test City’s focus and consistency like Wolves.
Will Manchester City run through Wolves?
