In the first of a new series of articles on Premier League Fantasy Football, we look at players who could get you big points in FPL each week. Each gameweek we will select three players. Here are the players we have chosen for gameweek 18:
Heurelho Gomes (Watford, £4.5m)
The Brazilian’s selection may be a gamble. However, it could work out very well for those prepared to take a slight risk. The former Spurs star has kept just five clean sheets this season in the top-flight.
That could all change with the visit of goal-shy Huddersfield this weekend. The Terriers have only ever scored once in their eight away games in the Premier League and that was on the opening weekend of the season at Crystal Palace.
With games against the likes of Brighton, Leicester and Swansea to come, the Brazilian may prove to be a bargain short-term FPL option.
Jonjoe Kenny (Everton, £4.4m)
The 20-year-old has proven a very able deputy to injured first-choice right-back Seamus Coleman. The Liverpool-born star has now helped the Toffees to three cleans in their last four outings in the top-flight.
At just £4.4m, Kenny is a massive bargain. Factoring in the fact that the Toffees face struggling Swansea on home soil on Monday night makes him a must-have for gameweek 18.
Riyad Mahrez (Leicester, £8.5m)
The Algerian winger has experienced mixed fortunes in recent seasons. In the Fixes title-winning campaign, Mahrez scored a massive 240 points and was one of the essential FPL stars.
Last season his form dipped slightly. However, the former Le Havre star looks to be back to close to his best. The Foxes have recorded four straight Premier League wins, with Mahrez scoring three times and producing an assist in that good run of form.
In fact, the winger has now produced attacking returns in six of his last eight Top-flight outings.
