In the wake of last night’s Monday Night Football offering there were many things to talk about, but the overriding emotion for many was, and still is, the continued success of Arsenal Football Club. The Gunners have been able to do something that nobody else has managed so far this season, and that’s win ten games in a row in all competitions.
They did so with a really impressive performance against a Leicester City side that certainly didn’t roll over at the Emirates. The Foxes pushed Arsenal back and tried to bully them into submission, but despite initially taking the lead, they weren’t able to keep up their momentum and the Gunners eventually ran away with it 3-1.
It’s taken a long time for this Arsenal squad to develop that kind of backbone, but now that it’s there, the important thing for them will be to sustain it. Unai Emery has them playing in a style that has been wowing the masses over the course of the last few months, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
When this run began few could’ve anticipated that it would go this far, but it certainly raises some questions about what a fresh change of pace or direction can do for a team. Under Arsene Wenger it felt like they were wandering into the abyss, but now, they seem like a club that could even challenge for the title – and while that may seem like a stretch, just take a look at the league table.
There’s still an awfully long way to go and we haven’t seen what will happen when this squad gets stretched with the Europa League and cup competitions, but sometimes, you just need to sit back and enjoy what’s happening in front of you.
What was the best moment from Arsenal’s win over Leicester?
