According to Sky Sports, Premier League new boys Wolves are interested in signing Barcelona’s Colombian international centre-back Jerry Mina. The team from the Midlands are reportedly willing to sign the defender on loan or on a permanent deal.
Everton interested in signing Mina
The defender who impressed during the World Cup has also attracted the interest of another Premier League side in Everton. Toffees director of football Marcel Brands is reportedly in Spain attempting to negotiate deals for Mina and Barcelona teammate Lucas Digne.
Mina is reportedly keen on a move to the English top-flight this summer. It seems the giant centre-back could be in look, with a number of English clubs now reported to be interested in signing the defender.
Struggled since moving to Barcelona
Mina only arrived at Barcelona in the January transfer window from Palmeiras. The Catalan giants saw the 23-year-old as a potential long-term solution to their lack of options at centre-back.
Mina reportedly wants to stay with the Spanish champions. However, the Catalan giants have signed French defender Clement Lenglet from Sevilla this summer, so Mina’s chances of first-team football at the Nou Camp is poor. The Catalan giants also have issues with having more than three non-EU players, so Mina looks like the obvious player to leave the Catalan club this summer.
Wolves strengthening well
Wolves have certainly strengthened their squad this summer. The Midlands outfit brought in experienced Portuguese central midfielder Joao Moutinho from Monaco for a fee of around £5million earlier this week.
Signing Mina would be something of a coup in what looks to have been a very productive summer of recruitment for the Midlands side. However, Everton is an established Premier League club looking to push back into the top-six in the season, so the Toffees will be heavy competition to sign the big defender.
Where will Jerry Mina be plying his trade in the new season?
